Plinky’s Question: What part of life confuses you the most?
Oh, goodness. Isn’t this a loaded question.
I am easily confused by many things: the metabolic system, why people are rude for no reason, the method to peeling a plantain and how anyone can stomach the thought of eating cottage cheese.
But what confuses me the most? Spina Bifida. And even more so, how we don’t know what causes it or how to prevent it. And why no one seems to care.
I mean, it’s the most prevalent, permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. It affects every aspect of an individual’s being – from their brain, down to the tips of their toes. But there is very little research being done and very few people advocating for either prevention or the quality of life of those affected. Certainly no one in a position to actually make a difference. I guess that is what I really don’t understand.
There are five bajillion celebrities behind breast cancer, or hunger, or the earthquake in Haiti, and those are all valuable causes. But can someone just help us out here? We’re not asking a whole lot. Just educate yourself and stand up for our kids.
The end. Perhaps I’m more mad than confused? Whoops.
